Italian Duplex

This completely refurbished Belle Époque apartment consisting of 4000 square feet was created through the combination of the penthouse level with the gabled attics above, permitting generous space for this unique duplex.
Inspired by the harmonious modern curves of the Guggenheim in NYC, which is most noticeably asserted in the curved nature of the staircase leading from the salon to the mezzanine. A similar staircase leads from the mezzanine then to the study, master bedroom suite, and two additional guest room suites above.
Elemental colors of green and blues as well as earth tons that complement the large use of plants, are used to enhance the outdoor feel in the interior of the open space.
The residents great love for their books is highlighted through their extended collection being featured in many of the custom elements incorporated into the interior design, such as the large bookcases in the salon, the library and the custom shelves in the study.
The library, despite being completely refurbished, make use of the original stained glass windowed door pains from the original décor of the Belle Époque space maintaining tribute to the essence of the interiors origins.
A playful element to the spaces manifests through the contrast of Light in the wide-open spaces, versus the atmospheric mood lighting in the intimate settings of the dining room and bedrooms, for example which bring interest and ambience when moving between rooms.
